Salmon Pie Recipe

Hello food lovers, I made this lovely pie today and it tastes delicious. the original recipe has a different filling but I created this using my favorite vegetables that taste great with sea food. This is a nice meal for breastfeeding moms to increase milk supply.

I made two pies as you see in the photos, one that is thicker.. because I like the dough thicker and my hubby likes it thin. I hope you enjoy it!

Pie dough

3 dl flour
150 g butter or margarine
2 tablespoons cold water

Filling

250 g shredded, smoked or cured salmon
Fresh or frozen pieces of:
Cauliflower, green beens, asparagus, kale
* optional quantity

Topping

3 eggs
2 dl milk
1 dl cream
1 1/2 dl grated cheese
1 tsp salt
1 pinch black pepper

Method
  • Mix together the flour and butter, add water and form a dough ball, by hand or in a food processor. Wrap it in plastic wrap and let rest in a cool place for about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 225ºC.
  • Roll or press out the dough in a greased baking pan, to be about 24 cm tin . Pre-bake pie crust in about 10 minutes.
  • Cut the salmon into small pieces, shred cauliflower, green beens, asparagus, kale. Divide the salmon and everything else in the pre-baked pie dough.
  • Mix together the eggs, milk, cream, grated cheese and spices. Pour the mix over filling..
  • Bake in middle of oven for about 30 minutes or until the pie is golden.

Tip
Want more seafood feeling so add some peeled Räker or crayfish.
