This summer I am spending most of the time home in Haga. Unlike other past summers, where we went on lots of road trips and camped a lot because Summer in Sweden/Scandinavia is like heaven. This year did not join the family much on the social activities, but I did my best to make some social time here and there to be present. Because of my studies and Alicia being only 6 months now I am enjoying summer locally, ticking off my following to does :
1. The books are being a big highlight this summer especially immigration literature. Regardless of the course I just finished. I am still reading for my yearly reading challenge which is 33 books a year. Reading is fundamental!!!! I am currently reading "Another life"
2. Planting vegetables. Taking care of my mini farming in the "pallet collar" and the tomatoes on the balcony. I got salad mix, kale, herbs, peas, and soon I will be harvesting the zucchini, beets, and carrots.
3. Selling out our extra things to have a minimal lifestyle. Selling all mom and baby things that me and Alicia outgrown. At the same time keeping an eye on the second-hand market for future needs.
4. Making 10,000 steps per day. I am a walker and I rarely drive or take other transportation services. Only if I carry heavy shopping bags or something. So I take walks with the girls to the city, to the supermarket, and almost everywhere daily to keep my blood pumping.
5. Planning small and simple pleasers or rewards here and there.. a good homemade meal, grilling outdoors, perhaps a good movie after the kid's bedtime.
6. Summer cabin time. As I mentioned before, we are still able to enjoy some cabin time during visits and sleepovers at our friends and family. But now I actually rented a cabin with our neighbor friends next week and I am looking forward to it. Then the week after, we are joining the girl's grandparents at a summer cabin they have rented for a week. It's going to be a bit stressful with the studies at hand but I will work effectively during the early mornings to be "task" free by then.
