Going Away? Here's How to Pack the Right Shoes

Are you planning on taking a vacation in the near future? If so, it’s important to pack the right footwear. Your trip
will be much more enjoyable if your shoes keep you comfortable.

That said, there’s no one type of shoe that’s perfect for all trips. You need to consider where your vacation will take
you, and what you plan to do when you get there, in order to choose the right footwear. While comfortable sandals
could be perfect for one destination, they may be unwearable on another trip.

These tips will help you make the right choices. Keep them in mind the next time you’re packing shoes for a
vacation.

City Shoes

Will your trip involve walking around a city throughout the day? If so, you need footwear that combines style,
comfort, and durability.

It’s also a good idea to choose shoes made from breathable materials, such as leather or canvas. This prevents
your feet from sweating excessively. If your feet get sweaty, it could lead to other problems, such as fungus.
You certainly won’t want to be dealing with that while you’re exploring a new destination!

Additionally, make sure the soles have a strong grip. For instance, if you want to wear stylish ballet flats while
touring a city, make sure they have rubber soles. Supportive sneakers are also a great choice. They’ll keep you
comfortable and steady no matter where your day takes you.

Backpacking Shoes

Some people prefer to explore the countryside during their vacations. If backpacking is more your speed, you need
waterproof shoes. You can’t control the weather, nor can you be certain you won’t find yourself in humid regions.

When considering shoe options, try to bend the soles. Avoid shoes with soles that don’t even slightly bend back.
They won’t keep you comfortable while backpacking.

Some people find sandals are a better option for backpacking than shoes. This is mainly due to the fact that sandals
are breathable and great on slick surfaces. If you opt for sandals instead of shoes, pack a pair of lightweight flats
in case you find yourself at any bars or restaurants that prohibit open-toed shoes.

Hiking Boots

It’s important for hiking boots to be durable and waterproof. When you select a pair, walk around in them for at
least three weeks in advance of your trip to break them in.

It’s also a good idea to wear hiking boots that are half a size larger than your typical shoes. When hiking down a
mountain, your toes may slide forward in the boot. You want there to be enough space for them when this happens.
As always, it’s also smart to opt for breathable boots. Look for any made of leather or similar materials.

Beach Footwear

You may spend a decent amount of time at the beach barefoot; after all, that’s what the beach is for. However,
you’re still going to need something to protect your feet. A pair of sandals is always a good option.

This is an instance when you may want to avoid leather, as it can crack when exposed to water. You should also
choose sandals with thick soles. This protects you from sand, which can irritate your skin. Always make sure your
feet are completely dry and free of sand when you slip back into sandals after swimming in the ocean.

Remember these points the next time you’re packing for a vacation. By keeping them in mind, you’ll be much more
likely to choose the right footwear for your needs. This is key to having a truly enjoyable trip!
