Here is another freebie for photography Lightroom users and people who like to "cook and tell" on social media :-) like me ... foodies, food bloggers, the so-called (food porn Instagrams) .. or whoever need to improve their photos by using sharp and natural light effects.
When it comes to food photography I like the cottage neutral style photos more than modern ones. Especially with the concept of the food that I like to cook is "comfort food". This preset is perfect for that type of country style effect. For very good natural light photos take the following basic tips:
- Light: Use a natural light source like a window and another white surface "light block" on the opposite direction to reflect and direct the light right back on the other side of the objects.
- Background: keep in mind that the background or table surface is also very important to make the photo main objects stand out.
- Color balance: there is something called "the color friend" I learned at art school in painting class which I also apply to photography. For example, the jam jar in the middle got a color friend in the raspberries. This way the photo becomes more harmonious for the observing eye. Smoothie glass and the butter. The tray in the middle and the corrosion have the same color too... and so on...
